On September 5, 2024, HBM successfully completed the acceptance inspection of the overall cabin unit for the EQUINOR FPSO RAIA project. This joint venture, involving EQUINOR, MODEC, and COSCO Offshore & Marine Engineering, received positive feedback from representatives of these companies. The modular cabin mock-up process received positive comments for its "collaboration, efficiency, dedication, and attention to detail."
EQUINOR FPSO RAIA is a significant project, marking the first tripartite collaboration between EQUINOR, MODEC, and COSCO Offshore & Marine Engineering. It will be Brazil's inaugural offshore natural gas processing project, and it follows HBM's involvement in the BP Greater Tortue Ahmeyim FPSO project.
EQUINOR FPSO RAIA measures 340 meters long, 64 meters wide, and 33 meters deep, and is classified by DNV. HBM was responsible for designing and constructing 80 cabin module units. These units must adhere to the standards of DNV and NR37, as well as the requirements of SOLAS, EQUINOR, and MODEC.
Committed to its mission of "creating green, safe, and high-quality living spaces at sea," HBM dedicated one and a half months to building the modular cabin mock-up. Throughout the design and construction process, HBM simulated real onboard scenario, meticulously detailed every aspect, and identified potential issues that might arise during the mass production of modular cabin units. This proactive approach enabled HBM to develop corresponding rectification measures, laying a solid foundation for the production and construction of the subsequent finished cabin units.
The inspection process was divided into engineering disciplines, including ventilation, piping, electrical, and interior. This two-day inspection was rigorously controlled, ensuring effective personnel planning, plan execution, process optimization, and project milestone management. Over fifty owner representatives participated in the inspection, expressing satisfaction on the work of the shipyard and HBM.
