The Explorer III is China's first comprehensive scientific research ship designed for global deep-sea (including polar regions) exploration, with manned deep-diving capabilities in ice areas. It can carry out both deep-sea scientific investigations and underwater archaeological research, and in the summer, it can also support scientific exploration in polar regions. This will expand China's manned deep-diving capabilities from just full ocean depth to all ocean areas, significantly enhancing the China's ability to conduct deep-sea archaeological operations.
